Gardening Tips For The Beginning Vegetable Gardener
There are many ways for anyone to have a vegetable garden in their backyard but for the beginner vegetable gardening can be very hard to maintain & also occasionally frustrating. It’s always wise to have some tips to get you started with your vegetable garden. I’ll give some of the very tips that I use myself that have helped me have such a successful & productive garden in the summer.
The first & probably one of the most important is to rototill or turn over the dirt that your going to plant your vegetables in. If you have a rototiller then your job will be easy if not then you can use a rake or pitch fork to turn your dirt over. Turning the dirt over gives you a better potting soil that makes it easier to plant in.
Second tip is you need vegetable plants if you want to have a garden, so go any nursery near you & pick out vegetables you want to grow. My suggestions are to start with vegetables plants that are easy to grow & do not take long to harvest. My preference are tomatoes, peppers, broccoli & cucumbers. You can always find plants that you may enjoy growing in your garden & not worry about how long it will take to harvest. The best thing about a garden is to have fun with it & take joy in work you achieve once your vegetables start to grow. The third tip is once you have your garden planted find fencing it can be plastic, wooden or even bricks stacked along side of your garden. This is to attempt to keep animals from getting at your plants & eating anything that they find that is edible.
My forth tip is how to combat against weeds, one way is when weeds appear pull them out by hand completely pulling root & all. This will stop weeds from coming back. Weeds do & will appear from time to time so do not use weed killer or anything that may harm your plants.
The fifth tip is maintaining your garden, how many times should you water it? Should you use miracle grow for any of your plants? Well, as far as watering goes you can water every other day or depending on where you live if it rains often then you most certainly will not have to water every other day. When it comes to using any miracle grow to help spurt your garden, you can use it to help it grow. Myself I do not use miracle grow for any of my plants I would rather see them grow naturally. If you do use miracle grow using it on plants such as tomatoes has been known to work. It helps your tomato plants grow much quicker & occasionally even makes the plants grow larger over time.
Always remember gardening is meant to be fun & is something that you can do as a family. You can also if you prefer plant your garden on you own & watch it grow. Once you get that first tomato out of your garden take pride in knowing that you were the one that planted those tomatoes & your family will sure love them in their salads. Good Luck & Happy Gardening!
